Counselling or Psychotherapy provides a professional confidential setting to talk about issues that are causing stress, anxiety or unhappiness in our lives. Teach Bhride provides a relaxed and safe environment where individuals, couples, children, families, and groups can explore issues that are causing stress, and seeking integration, in their lives.
Why go to a counsellor?
People see counsellors for a wide variety of reasons - relationship problems, bereavement ,unemployment, domestic violence, abuse, adolescent issues, family conflicts, eating disorders, addictive behaviour, panic atacks, insomnia , stress or anxiety, etc. Emotional problems don't necessrily go away if we ignore them so it makes sense to deal with them and get support as soon as possible.
Many issues are best dealt with in one to one sessions with a counsellor or psychotherapist. In othre instances it is helpful to attend counselling with your spouse or partner, and in some circumstances it is most beneficial to attend therapy as a family unit, where with the help of a family therapist , issues or difficulties are explored together as a family in a safe environment.
What does a cousellor/ psychotherapist do?
A cousellor/ psychotherapist is trained to listen carefully to your problems and to suport you while you find your own solutions. The relationship between a counsellor and a client is confidential and is based on respect and trust . The counsellor will help you find solutions that are realistic and workable for you.
Does going to a counsellor or psychotherapist mean that there is something wrong with me/ or that I am not normal?
No. It is a healthy sign that you are concerned about changing a difficult situation or wanting to live more fully in your environment. Your feeling better or handling a situation differently may make not only your life, but the world a better place.
